THE SUREST NAME IN SHOT BLAST SYSTEMS
Series X - Blast Rooms

MetFin provides a full line of blast cleaning rooms for sandblasting or grit blasting with a complete array of blast media.

We take a modular approach to blast room design. Variables such as part size, media selection, material handling method and production requirements must be considered for each application in order to provide the best blast cleaning solution. The MetFin modular approach allows us to provide only the components you need when a complete system is not required.

Blast Room System Selection Process:

1) Blast room enclosure size
2) Material handling method
3) Work door configuration
4) Abrasive reclaim system
5) Desired blast system

Blast Room Enclosure Size

Enclosure size is determined by the size of the largest part that will be blasted. To determine the required size, we then add at least three feet (3') to all sides and at least four feet (4') to the height (ex. 4' x 6' x 6' high part would require a blast room at least 10' wide x 12' long x 10' high).

Standard Blast Room Sizes*
  • Width: 8', 10', 12', 14', 16'
  • Depth: 8', 10', 12', 16', 20'
  • Height: 8', 10', 12', 14'

*Larger and non-standard sizes are available.

Material Handling Method:
  • Work car on rails
  • Overhead crane loading
  • Fork lift loading
Work Door Configuration
  • Double swing doors
  • Roll-up doors
  • Sliding door
  • Doors on both ends (drive-through)
Abrasive Reclaim System
The reclaim system is first determined by the type of abrasive being used, (screw conveyor vs. vacuum reclaim), and then is a function of production requirements and budget. Full reclaim floors are more costly but provide continuous automatic recycling of abrasive. Partial reclaims and corner boxes require the operator to sweep the abrasive to the reclaim system. If parts are to be handled by forklifts, the reclaim system must accommodate the heavy loading.

Standard configurations for screw conveyor and vacuum reclaim systems:

  • Full reclaim floors:
    Full floor continuous reclaim
    "U" Shape in-floor reclaim
    "H" Shape in-floor reclaim
  • Partial reclaims:
    Single cross-floor reclaim
Corner box sweep-in or shovel-in reclaim
Blast System
  • Pressure Blast
  • Suction Blast
  • Single- or Multi-Operator

The information provided on this page is a general overview of the MetFin Blast Room System design process. For each of the above items, there are a number of variables that must be considered to assemble the very best system for your application.
